Past Papers

One of the most effective methods of preparing for an exam is to complete the exam papers from previous years. This not only gives you a taste of the types of question you’ll face in the exam, but also by getting to know how the mark scheme works, allows you to ensure you provide your answers in sufficient detail to gain the marks.

To get the most out of each paper, requires a bit of self control. Don’t just simply copy the mark scheme onto the paper. A 5 year old could do this and anything a 5 year old can do will not help you prepare for your exams (see my blog post: The most popular Exam Revision technique is also the worst).

The image below shows how to use past papers effectively. Do each activity in turn.
